What is Cantera?
Widely used open-source software for chemical equilibrium, thermodynamics, kinetics and reactor calculations. Laplaxian's chemistry runs on it.
Relying on an established engine avoids reinventing complex numerics and makes results reproducible elsewhere.
A few lines of Python with Cantera compute the equilibrium composition of a methane–air mixture.
Each result's provenance records the Cantera version used. A different version counts as a different calculation, even for the same inputs.
It provides equilibrium solvers, ideal-gas thermodynamics, reactor networks (ReactorNet) and more.
